First-time freshmen must take one lower-division Area 4 course that meets US History (USH).

Minor (12 units minimum)
A Journalism major must complete a minor (12-unit minimum) alongside their bachelor's degree. Completion requires students to maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Students should consult with an academic adviser in Journalism to determine a minor that meets their interests and professional goals. Complementary Studies
Twelve units of Complementary Studies are required of all candidates for the Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. Students completing the Bachelor of Arts in Journalism must complete a minor that has been approved by the department. The minor fulfills the Complementary Studies Requirement.- 5
