Minor in Public Health

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Identify effective strategies for advocacy and community organizing to improve health and health equity.
  2. Explain behavioral, biological, social, environmental, economic, policy and systems level factors influencing public health.
  3. Communicate orally, in writing and visually, coherently and persuasively in the context of public health using multiple platforms.
  4. Demonstrate professional skills including teamwork, leadership, cultural humility, community engagement, and critical reflection.

Public Health Minor — 18 units

The Minor in Public Health is an 18 unit program. The minor complements many major programs offered by other University departments and has been designed for maximum flexibility. Individuals must work with a public health advisor to select appropriate courses. Advisor approval is required for courses not listed below.

All coursework used to satisfy the requirements of the minor must be completed with a minimum grade point average of 2.0.

A minimum of 6 upper-division units are required to complete the minor.
