Certificate in Multilingual and International Business Competencies

The Certificate in Multilingual and International Business Competencies provides students with basic competency in two essential sets of skills sought after by today’s employers: Knowledge of international business operations as well as proficiency in languages other than English. The certificate requires completion of 4 classes, two of which are chosen from a list of classes offered by the Department of International Business (IBUS) and two from the list of language classes offered by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures (MLL). For their choice of language classes, students are encouraged to complete two sequential classes in the same language. Depending on class choice, completion of the certificate requires 12-14 units.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate basic understanding of the principles of international business and multicultural relations as well as the social, political, cultural, and economic environments and their effects on functional management.
  2. Articulate understanding of and sensitivity to diverse global business and managerial practices as well as cultural differences in English writing and speech.
  3. Demonstrate proficiency [from basic to advanced depending on levels completed] in speaking, listening, reading and writing in a language other than English.

Certificate in Multilingual and International Business Competencies - 12 units minimum

All courses for the certificate must be completed with a minimum GPA of 2.0.
